Managing Attorney, Zane Johnson, will present a free webinar on February 5th, 2020 at 12pm, in partnership with Philadelphia FIGHT. The webinar covers the emergence of community lawyering as an approach to addressing the unmet need for legal solutions. The presentation starts with an introduction to what lawyers do and their theoretical role in society in relation to how they are perceived. It then introduces participants to the traditional approach to legal services before introducing community lawyering as an alternative model. The remainder of the presentation explains what this approach looks like, in order to help participants envision how social workers can play a role in facilitating the creation of community lawyer projects where they live and work. The presentation concludes with a list of organizations successfully engaging in community lawyering in both the Philadelphia area and nationally.
The National Association of Social Workers has approved this program for 1 continuing education hour. The PACLE Board has also approved this program for 1 CLE credit.
